Fibroblast Marker Antibodies
Fibroblast surface protein, ER-TR7, Prolyl-4-Hydroxylase beta e S100A4.

The main function of  fibroblasts  is  to maintain  the  structur al integrity  of  connective  tissue  by continuously  secreting  precursors  of  the extracellular  matrix.  Fibroblasts  make  collagens,  glycosaminoglycans,  reticular  and  elastic  fibers  and  glycoproteins found in the extracellular matrix.  Many  researchers  specifically stain fibroblasts to detect cell culture contamination. In the scientific literature several recommendtions can be found to achieve this using antibodies to marker proteins specifically expressed by fibroblast sent types of inactive monomers with molecular weights of about 4 kDa (alpha subunit) and 60 kDa (beta subunit).

The monoclonal ER-TR7 antibody detects reticular fibroblasts, which constitute the cellular framework of lymphoid and non-lymphoid or gans and their products.
ER-TR7 reacts with an intracellular component of fibroblasts.     

Prolyl-4-hydroxylase catalyzes the formation of 4-hydroxyproline in  collagens  by  the  hydroxylation  of  proline  residues  in  peptide linkages. The active enzyme is a tetramer, consisting of two different types of inactive monomers with molecular weights of about 64 kDa (alpha subunit) and 60 kDa (beta subunit). 

FSP1/S100A4 is a lament-associated calcium-binding protein and is associated with cells of mesenchymal origin or of fibroblastic phenotype.
Polyclonal antisera raised to recombinant fibroblast specific protein 1 (FSP1) stain the cytoplasm of fibroblasts, but not epithelium.

FSP1 is also expressed by many tumor cells spreading into distant metastases and is therefore
also known as Metastasin.
